The locations and facilities of APICIUS are a vital part of Florentine civic, historical, and cultural life. Housed in historic palazzi throughout the center of Florence, our facilities provide breathtaking spaces in which students breathe history and create new contributions to contemporary Florence through their studies. The locations of where APICIUS academic and community involvement take place are Palazzi Bombicci Guicciardini Strozzi, Villa Brilli Peri, Ganzo and FEDORA.
Palazzo Bombicci Pontelli Guicciardini Strozzi (Corso Tintori 19 and 21) is the Headquarters of FUA - Florence University of the Arts. Houses lecture and lab rooms for the SAS School of Arts and Sciences, J SCHOOL of Journalism, Communication and Publishing; and ISB - International School of Business, with one 40-seat capacity amphitheater lecture and event room, 4 lecture rooms of which 2 include research and lab features, a fully equipped darkroom with 18 enlargers, painting and mixed media facilities, the music studies facility featuring a piano room and a 10-seat recording studio, administrative offices and headquarters of Ingorda for Florence Campus Publishing (J School CEMI) and F_AIR Florence Artist in Residence (SAS CEMI). There is also a workout room, La Palestra, offering machines and classes with free access to all students and a dance lab. In the historically representative rooms of the Piano Nobile is the FUA Library and a beautiful garden courtyard on the Arno River with panoramic views completes the setting.
Classrooms and laboratory spaces are offered at Villa Brilli Peri (via Guelfa 85, 114, 116). Located here are a pastry production lab with products available for the public (Fedora), restaurant style line kitchens, individual workstation kitchens, kitchens for private cooking classes, demo kitchens, lecture rooms equipped for food and wine appreciation, two lecture rooms, a professional wine appreciation room, a computer and research lab classroom and two computer and internet centers with outdoor patio.
Ganzo (Via de’Macci 85/r) is the restaurant/café/exhibition space/cultural center operated by Apicius students and faculty that features magazine reading room, open to all students and the community, an art gallery for shows created by students and professional artists, comprehends also a lecture room, a fully operating restaurant open 6 days a week for lunch and dinner service, a beverage service an outdoor patio and terrace, a wine cellar, a dining area open to the public and a study and hangout space for students with free Wi-Fi access.
